MISA
MISA is proud to represent Americas military children. Together with Congressional leaders, local school districts and families we are building an educational foundation for children around the world. Whether it is forming a partnership with military linguists to teach children foreign languages or talking to Congress about a multi-million dollar funding program, we are committed to doing what is right for our military children, their families, schools and communities.
MISA leaders not only know the issues facing its members and their families. They live it. Executive Director, Dr. John Deegan, is Superintendent of Schools in Bellevue, Nebraska home to Offutt AFB and United States Strategic Command. More than 1,000 of the families in his district face deployment each day. Children come to school while their parents go to war. We cannot lose sight of our children, said Dr. Deegan. They are in my heart and on mind each time I speak to colleagues whether they are at a school or on Capitol Hill. People ask me why Im so passionate about what I do. I defy them to look into the eyes of one of my students and not feel compelled to make sure they are afforded every opportunity. Its not just my job its my duty. Its my privilege.
